On the edge of a sleepy seaside village lives a Fisherwoman: smelly, single and the butt of everyone’s jokes.
Tired of being ridiculed by her stuffy, small-minded neighbours, she decides to take matters into her own hands and commissions an unconventional companion – a husband made entirely of wicker, crafted by the local Basket Weaver who comes to life.
But in a village where tradition reigns supreme, this curious courtship is anything but welcomed. As gossip spreads and jealousy take hold, her extraordinary romance threatens to turn the community upside down, exposing the hypocrisy and narrow-mindedness lurking beneath its respectable façade.
Wicker is wonderfully eccentric. A quirky tale of outsiders, unconventional desires and the courage to challenge society’s expectations, it asks whether love really needs to fit the mould – or, in this case, the basket.
