On the isle of Berk, Vikings and dragons are bitter enemies. Defying this centuries-old tradition, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III befriends Toothless, a dreaded (and adorable!) Night Fury dragon.
As Hiccup discovers that his society’s preconceptions about dragons may have been misguided, he must seek to disrupt this never-ending conflict and help to bring peace to Berk once and for all.
Having written and directed DreamWorks’ animated How To Train Your Dragon trilogy, Dean DeBlois reinvents Hiccup’s story in this live-action adaptation. Having only elected to direct the film after securing full creative control from the studio, the film is set to be just as charming and heartfelt as its animated predecessors. Committed to making an emotionally-charged adaptation, puppets were used on set to drive authentic performances from the cast. Newcomers Mason Thames and Nico Parker star alongside franchise regular Gerard Butler and a scene-stealing Nick Frost.
