Glenn Powell continues to charm as an exterminator of the rich, in a sharp modern-day update of Kind Hearts and Coronets.
Struggling suit salesman Becket Redfellow lives in the shadow of a family worth $28 billion, which cut off his mother for having him as a teenager. To avenge her and impress his wealthy childhood friend, he decides to murder seven relatives in line for the money – something not easily done without drawing attention.
Building on his small-scale thriller Emily the Criminal, writer-director John Patton Ford channels the satiric bite, farcical plotting, and deadpan charm of the 1940s British classic, seamlessly grafted onto modern-day America. Powell’s charisma and talent hold the outlandish story together, with a strong supporting cast (disappointingly, none of them play all eight relatives like in the original – not even Topher Grace).
