Not even a month after deftly proving his leading man abilities in Resident Evil, Austin Abrams returns to the screen in yet another tale of surviving horrific circumstances.

Based on the 2023 novel of the same name, Abrams plays Jay Gardiner, a scuba diver who has a strained relationship with his father Mitt (Josh Brolin). When Mitt dies at sea, Jay goes in search of his remains, but finds himself in a nightmarish situation when he is swallowed by a sperm whale. Now, Jay has only an hour of oxygen left to escape.

The scenario is certainly novel, but Whalefall succeeds by stringing a compelling story through a tense, disturbing, and claustrophobic tale of survival that will have you completely on the edge of your seat thanks to the strong commitment of both the writers and the visual effects team.
