As a plague ravages the landscape of a small Italian province, the devilish Prince Prospero has secured a number of wealthy guests inside the sanctuary of his castle where they enjoy a lavish and decadent party all under the influence of the prince’s sadistic whims. But when a village girl (Jane Asher) is brought inside the castle after her village is ransacked, his diabolic faith is matched against hers in a battle of wills.
