An epic musically charged comedy, The Blues Brothers is still a raucous party.

From director John Landis (An American Werewolf in London) it transcended its original cult status through enormous international success - hard to believe it was developed from a mere Saturday Night Live sketch!

Co-written by Landis and lead Dan Aykroyd, the latter starring as Elwood Blues, and John Belushi as “Joliet” Jake Blues. Just as Jake gets his parole, after a three-year prison sentence, the Blues Brothers learn that the Catholic orphanage in which they were raised faces closure - unless $5,000 is raised for the property taxes.

Their “mission from God” to raise the money in a very short space of time sets them at odds with neo-Nazis, a country and western band, the ‘mystery woman’ (Carrie Fisher - having just starred in The Empire Strikes Back), all the while being pursued by the police!

They find their old friends in unlikely places, like a restaurant run by Aretha Franklin, a music shop run by Ray Charles, and a gospel church run by James Brown.
