Zombies are not the only monsters roaming the mainland.
Last year, Danny Boyle reintroduced audiences to the post-apocalyptic Britain ravaged by the Rage Virus that he first brought to screens with 28 Days Later in 2003. The world has changed, and so too have the undead.
Nia DaCosta (Candyman, Little Woods) directs this new entry in the series, shot back-to-back with 28 Years Later. It finds Spike (Alfie Williams) navigating treacherous mainland Britain alongside a psychopathic cult of “Jimmys”, led by a menacing Jack O’Connell (Back to Black, Sinners) in one of his best performances to date. Ralph Fiennes also stars as the disturbed Dr Kelson, whose warped philosophy turns out to be one of Spike’s less disturbing revelations.
