Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece of modern horror, based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel.

Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) becomes a winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping to cure his writer's block. Jack settles in along with his wife, Wendy (Shelley Duvall), and his son, Danny (Danny Lloyd) - who is plagued by psychic premonitions. As Jack's writing goes nowhere and Danny's visions become more disturbing, Jack discovers the hotel's dark secrets and begins to unravel into a homicidal maniac hell-bent on terrorizing his family.

Joining the tight cast is legendary actor and musician, Scatman Crothers as Dick Hallorann. Dick possesses the gift called the Shining, and warns young Danny that the Overlook could be dangerous to those with the Shining.

Each viewing reestablishes The Shining as one of the greatest horror movies of all-time.
