Working at the Odyssey

Working at The Odyssey is not just a job, but an opportunity to participate in a thriving creative community. We are keen to enable our team to use their talents and hone their filmmaking, public speaking, and other key skills, to benefit both their future careers and personal development.

Social Media Marketing

We have a wide presence across several social media platforms, and give our team the facilities to make engaging content that can both advertise upcoming screenings and develop their filmmaking skills and marketing instincts. These include a series of ambitious sketches written, directed, edited and starring members of our team!

Mix 92.6 Collaborations

We are thrilled to have an extensive history of collaborations with St Albans’ local radio station, Mix92.6. We hold a regular radio slot with the station, giving members of staff the opportunity to speak about upcoming films and their experience working at The Odyssey, live on air.

We also hold training sessions with the Mix92.6 team to give our colleagues a taste of how live radio works in action, and to develop their confidence with public speaking. Every screening at The Odyssey is introduced by a member of our staff on stage, sharing fun facts about the film, recommending upcoming showings, and giving audience shoutouts.

The Podyssey

In collaboration with Mix 92.6, we also have an official podcast co-hosted by our staff members Nic, Roberto and Sam, alongside the station’s own Neil Rodger. Every month, the boys discuss the films currently screening at The Odyssey, all the latest movie news, and share their opinions on a topic relevant to an upcoming release. It’s available wherever you get your podcasts. Click here to listen now!

The Odyssey Film Club

Every month, our staff select a classic film to be screened for our Film Club. This monthly event welcomes film students and cinephiles from St Albans and beyond to enjoy a great movie on our big screen, and have a chat about it afterwards over a free cup of tea or coffee. We discuss cinematic craft, behind-the-scenes secrets, and how the film influenced/was influenced by other filmmakers. Previous screenings include Powell & Pressburger’s The Red Shoes, Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, and Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.
