The first half of our fang-tastic Halloween double-bill of 1980s vampire movies (coupled with Fright Night on October 31st) comes to the Odyssey this Halloween weekend.
When Mike (Jason Patric) and his brother Sam (Corey Haim) move to the beach town of Santa Carla, they soon discover that beyond the lights and music of the amusement park and the endless beach parties, the town holds a sinister secret. It’s a haven for a gang of teenage vampires.
As Mike becomes seduced into the lifestyle of the gang, and its leader David (Kiefer Sutherland), it’s up to his younger brother to save him from becoming one of them himself. So, after enlisting the help of the infamous Frog Brothers (Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander), they arm themselves with stakes, garlic and holy water filled squirt guns to destroy the unholy brood once and for all.
Well deserving of its classic status Director Joel Schumacher’s teen horror effortlessly combines the scares with the laughs, and along with its unforgettable rocking soundtrack, it’s the perfect slay ride to start the Halloween season.
