Come and re-live the whip-smart dialogue, beguiling underworld characters and jaw-dropping moments that make Pulp Fiction the hands-down coolest film of the Nineties.
Soaked in both pop-culture and the history of cinema, Tarantino was a geek extraordinaire who delved into his encyclopaedic fandom to imbue his sophomore film with a style both audaciously unique and knowingly familiar, of retro styles and unapologetic homages. He then doused the lot in a soundtrack of earworms and nostalgia.
In rough terms the film is about two hitmen who survive a miraculous incident and decide to take differing paths as a result. The story is told non-linearly with the final scene actually being in the middle of the chronology. And then there is the enduring mystery of what’s really in the briefcase, is it drugs, money, a human soul, a Royale with Cheese? All have been postulated.
Filmed for just $8 million Pulp Fiction made back over 26 times that amount. It also won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for 7 Oscars.
With Once Upon A Time In Hollywood just around the corner this is the perfect opportunity to revisit Tarantino’s greatest work.
