Part of the ‘A Cinematic Odyssey: Postcards from Europe’ strand.

Director and writer Olivier Assayas (Personal Shopper, Irma Vep) returns with a fresh and intellectual romantic comedy to lift the spirit. Assayas pairs up once more with Juliette Binoche and Guillaume Canet as Selena, a hardworking TV actress and Alain, who runs a small but influential publishing house.

The film follows Leonard Spiegel (Vincent Macaigne, C’est la Vie!) a writer of gossipy novels. Leonard prides himself on being out of touch; he hardly knows what the Internet is, let alone social media. But his longtime editor and friend, Alain rejects his new manuscript – the business at the venerable publishing house where Alain works is changing.

Assayas shifts his gaze to the cultural impermanence brought on by technology. This film matches the genius wit of Assayas with the amazing comedic timing and warmth given from this stunning cast.

Coming to our screen one month before it’s official UK release, The Odyssey brings you a special preview of this sharp-witted and hilarious French comedy. Do not miss!

The film will be introduced by Dr Paul Sutton, who will stay for the end of the film for a post- screening discussion in the auditorium.
