Rising from the crypt this Halloween comes director Tom Holland’s love letter to the golden age of classic horror movies, Fright Night.
17 year old Charlie Brewster (William Ragsdale) has started noticing strange behaviour from his new neighbour Jerry Dandrige (Chris Sarandon)… He is only ever seen after sunset, late night visitors have been reported missing, and why are coffins being delivered to the house? Could Charlie be living next door to a vampire?
When the police and his mother don’t believe him, he enlists the help of washed-up actor and TV horror host Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall) to slay the undead bloodsucker before he sinks his teeth into his girlfriend Amy (Amanda Bearse) and his best friend “Evil” Ed Thomson (Stephen Geoffreys).
Skilfully embracing the mythologies of the Universal and Hammer horror movies of yesteryear and blending them with a modern (well… 80s) dynamic, Fright Night remains one of the most highly regarded and fondly remembered horror films of the decade. So, if you love being scared… it’ll be the night of your life!
