50 years after the Stonewall riots, and marking the 50th anniversary of Gay Pride in London, this vivid new documentary struts in. Directed by Ashley Joiner, this is an important representation of the LGBTQ+ community through the past and into the future.
Featuring some rare archive footage from political and social campaigns across the years and emotional interviews, this documentary highlights the positive changes that have come but asks some serious questions about the extent to which attitudes have really changed across the world and what’s next.
Focusing on a range of historic events from the 1967 Sexual Offences Act through to current concerns regarding the commercialisation of pride and the marginalisation of LGBTQ+ minority groups, the film discusses ways in which we can all stand together, ensuring trans people, LGBTQ+ people of colour and Asian descent are not overlooked.
Hosting the event will be Danny Clare and Clive Duffey from the local community campaign, Ask for Clive.
