The story of Ralph’s quest to transition to bonafide hero from the villain of ‘Wreck-It-Ralph’ continues, as he and fellow misfit Vanellope decide to take on the World Wide Web in this gloriously animated Disney sequel.
Wreck-It-Ralph (2012) established Ralph’s ardent desire to break free from his bad-guy persona, which saw him teaming up with racer/glitch, Vanellope von Schweetz. John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman reprise their roles respectively as Ralph and Vanellope.
This time, the mission centres more around Vanellope, who must save her game, Sugar Rush, by travelling into the internet itself to find the vital replacement part. They encounter Yesss (Taraji P. Henson), the algorithm who determines content for ‘BuzzzTube’ (no prize for guessing which websites are being parodied there), and also many Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar characters (Disney fully exploiting their considerable number of properties). There’s also a number of scenes stolen by the Disney Princesses.
A film that is equally enjoyable for children and adults – the knowing retro video game references will also please the big kids!
