It’s been 15 years since Richard Curtis’ directorial debut warmed up our cold, cynical hearts and reminded us that “love actually is all around” in what some call the ultimate romantic comedy.
Nine intertwined stories send the audience through the different stages of this crazy little thing called love. People fall in and out of love, get married, have affairs, and everything in between, set during the frantic month before Christmas in London.
With more stars than you can count, it seems like Curtis brought together the best of Britain, with regular collaborators Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Rowan Atkinson and Colin Firth, as well as Liam Neeson, Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, and the late Alan Rickman, and that’s just a few.
However, for the Americans in the film, Curtis famously sent handwritten letters to stars Laura Linney, Billy Bob Thornton and Denise Richards asking if they would consider being in the film.
We dare you to say that after seeing the film you haven’t danced around your house to Girls Aloud’s Jump cover, sang along to Love Is All Around like Bill Nighy, or had a good cry when hearing Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides Now.
